MATHER, California — California announced emergency actions on October 15 to support Southern California storm recovery and wildfire cleanup while coordinating a response to dangerous fire weather.

According to Cal OES, the storm proclamation covered Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties after Tropical Storm Rachel caused heavy rain, hazardous surf, erosion and transportation disruptions.

The announcement also addressed the Dove Fire in Tuolumne County and cleanup following the Gann Fire in Calaveras County. State officials said the measures were intended to help agencies remove hazardous debris and repair affected infrastructure.

The actions followed activation of the State Operations Center and prepositioning of emergency resources. This is a report on measures announced October 15, rather than a current weather alert. Residents should use current local emergency notices when making immediate safety decisions.
