CALIFORNIA — The state wildlife department’s October calendar lists fishing, habitat restoration and nature activities scheduled for October 24, with attendance conditions varying by event.

A Fishing in the City program at Brannan Island State Recreation Area is listed from 9 a.m. to noon. The calendar says participants age 16 and older need a fishing license and that some equipment will be available to borrow.

Other entries include habitat restoration at Ballona Reserve and a community day at Big Springs Ranch Wildlife Area in Montague. Some activities require registration or have accessibility limitations.

The calendar was released September 29 and warns that activities may change. Participants should confirm arrangements with organizers and check property closures before leaving. The accompanying CDFW archive photograph was supplied with the calendar; it does not depict one of these scheduled events.
