Cornell doctoral researcher Sylvana Ross worked with young people in Cincinnati to investigate insects in everyday urban spaces, according to a September 8 university feature.

The summer work formed part of the Cincinnati Urban Ecology Study. Participants examined parks and parking-lot edges, connecting research questions with environments residents encounter close to home.

The project illustrates community involvement in urban ecology and efforts to encourage young people’s interest in nature. Although Ross is affiliated with Cornell in New York, the fieldwork described in this report took place in Ohio.
