UCLA Library’s Modern Endangered Archives Program has awarded 30 grants for preservation work in 21 countries, according to an October 8 announcement.

The selected projects include human rights records, photography, Indigenous languages and oral traditions. Examples described by the library include archives connected to justice efforts in Guatemala and records from Mexico’s 2022–2024 truth commission.

A separate $2 million award from Arcadia will expand support for endangered audiovisual collections beginning in 2027. Preliminary applications for the program’s next grant round are due November 16. Materials produced with program support are intended for UCLA’s open-access digital repository, serving research and community use.
