West Virginia | Employment report | September 2026 data

West Virginia recorded a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.0 percent in September 2026, unchanged from August, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The September estimate is preliminary.
Employers’ payrolls totaled approximately 717,400 nonfarm jobs. That total was unchanged at the precision shown in the published table. This payroll measure counts positions, rather than individual employed residents.
The civilian labor force was approximately 772,100 people, 100 lower than in August. A stable rounded unemployment rate can coexist with movement in payroll employment and labor-force participation.
These are numerical comparisons of estimates, not a determination that each change is statistically significant. Figures may be revised. The state table was extracted October 20, 2026.
