Winbond commits $12 million to University of Washington engineering

Winbond Electronics Corporation America has committed $12 million to an endowed excellence fund at the University of Washington College of Engineering, the university announced October 13.

The fund supports research, faculty recruitment and retention, scholarships, fellowships and infrastructure. The announcement describes interdisciplinary opportunities in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and advanced manufacturing.

The gift provides flexible support for the college rather than allocating the entire amount to one named research project. The accompanying photograph records the partnership’s signing event in Seattle.
