The state government released labor-poverty and underemployment indicators attributed to INEGI.
Aguascalientes, Ags.— Labor poverty in Aguascalientes stood at 29% during the second quarter of 2026, compared with 34.1% in the same period of 2025, according to INEGI data released by the state government on October 22.
The difference is 5.1 percentage points. The statement also reported an underemployment rate of 3.6%, compared with a national average of 6.9%, citing the National Occupation and Employment Survey.
Esaú Garza de Vega, head of Economic Development, Science and Technology, connected the results with investment and the creation of formal jobs.
The indicators describe different dimensions of the labor market. Labor poverty means labor income is insufficient to purchase the basic food basket; underemployment identifies the need and availability to work more hours. Neither figure means every household improved equally.
