A Minneapolis father and son pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the federal government in an approximately $9 million scheme. Minnesota prosecutors announced the pleas on October 14.
The pleas were entered on October 9 and October 1 respectively; the father also admitted illegal firearm possession. The case forms part of a national tax fraud operation. The more than $490 million mentioned in that operation concerns cases nationwide, not exclusively this family.
