Oslo.— Norway announced a contribution of 750 million Norwegian kroner to support Ukraine’s reconstruction and public services through the World Bank’s special SPUR program.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on October 14 that the contribution could mobilize more than two billion kroner in additional loans. That complementary financing consists of loans, not a second Norwegian donation of the same amount.
The resources will support essential functions, including teachers’ and doctors’ salaries, social benefits and infrastructure recovery, according to the statement.
Minister of International Development Åsmund Aukrust presented the contribution during the World Bank’s annual meetings in Bangkok. The aid seeks to maintain civilian services as Russian attacks continue to affect Ukraine’s financial capacity.
