Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.— To strengthen preventive measures against the mosquito that transmits dengue, the 15th Los Cabos Municipal Administration held a bulky waste cleanup in the fourth and fifth sections of the López Obrador neighborhood in Cabo San Lucas.
The event was coordinated with state health authorities through the Health Secretariat. Participants included the Cabo San Lucas delegation, led by Karina de la O Uribe, its subdelegates coordination office and public services coordination office, along with neighborhood residents.
During the visit, Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez accompanied Municipal Health Department personnel to oversee mosquito spraying and cleanup work and verify that field activities followed the health authority’s schedule.
The Cabo San Lucas delegate said these actions form part of the municipal administration’s prevention strategy with the health sector, aimed at reducing potential mosquito breeding sites and encouraging community participation in maintaining public spaces.
Officials also said that preventive measures established by state health authorities include applying larvicide to water storage containers meeting the required technical conditions, in accordance with Health Secretariat protocols, dosages and standards. This includes storage tanks for which treatment is requested and which the health authority determines are suitable.
The Los Cabos Municipal Government urged residents to keep yards clean and free of discarded objects and to participate actively in prevention events, describing prevention as a responsibility shared by residents and authorities.
