Minnesota recorded a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.5 percent in September 2026, compared with 4.4 percent in August, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The September estimate is preliminary.

Employers’ payrolls totaled approximately 3,065,000 nonfarm jobs. The published estimates show 4,600 fewer jobs than in August. This payroll measure counts positions, rather than individual employed residents.

The civilian labor force was approximately 3,125,300 people, 800 higher than in August. The rate and payroll figures offer complementary views of the state’s labor market.

These are numerical comparisons of estimates, not a determination that each change is statistically significant. Figures may be revised. The state table was extracted October 20, 2026.
