Farmers from the Dzotzil ejido in Hecelchakán requested intervention by the Campeche government to obtain a land possession document that they say is needed to join Maíz del Bienestar.
Alfredo Escamilla Bacab, the group’s representative, told La Jornada Maya that the request was submitted through Sader to Sedatu more than a month earlier. The delay would affect around 49 farmers working approximately 100 hectares in Xcalumkiín.
The representative cited November 12 as the deadline to complete the procedure. The farmers are seeking a meeting with the Government Secretariat to expedite the federal response; their admission to the program remains pending.
