MADRID.— Israel revoked travel authorization for Francesca Cicardi, an elDiario.es journalist who planned to cover the October 27 general election, the outlet reported.

According to its account, the reporter had received both entry permission and press accreditation. The Immigration Authority subsequently announced the cancellation without publicly specifying the reasons.

The newspaper said it requested explanations from authorities and Israel’s representation in Madrid. It added that her professional accreditation remained valid despite withdrawal of travel authorization.

The case adds to complaints by press organizations about obstacles facing foreign correspondents. Available information does not establish a specific reason for the immigration decision.
