A Las Vegas man was sentenced to 38 months in prison for conspiring to file false tax returns and divert part of the IRS refunds. The court ordered restitution of $1,052,378.
Prosecutors announced the sentence on October 21 and described an approximately $5 million fraudulent refund scheme. The restitution ordered and the scheme’s total scale are different measures. The case penalizes the defendant’s proved participation in the operation.
