Information from the Baja California Sur State Government, distributed in its October 25, 2026 bulletin.
More than 40,000 secondary school students in Baja California Sur participated in the National Day for Peace and Against Addictions through sports, artistic and academic activities inside and outside classrooms, said Ofelia Ochoa Romero, the Public Education Secretariat’s director of Secondary Education.
The official explained that students receive ongoing classroom guidance about the consequences of drug use for their health, families and society.
She said the strategy seeks to raise awareness across the educational community about promoting peaceful environments, caring for mental health and preventing addictions through recreational and educational activities supporting a sense of belonging and the development of children’s and young people’s life plans.
Ochoa Romero highlighted the importance of all sectors of society helping make visible the effects of substances such as crystal methamphetamine, which can damage family relationships and contribute to violence and crime, while disrupting education and employment.
Finally, the education official said these events also promote positive ways to use free time.
