Kai Murphy received permission from Águilas de Mexicali to take a temporary leave from the Mexican Pacific League and join his father, Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy, at the World Series.
Mediotiempo’s report published on Saturday, October 24, said Roberto Vizcarra, manager of the border-city team, confirmed the front office’s authorization.
The 26-year-old outfielder had four hits in 14 at-bats for a .286 average in five games with Mexicali. This is his first experience in a winter league.
Pat Murphy led the Brewers to a 103-win regular season. His son’s participation in Mexican baseball adds a family connection between the Pacific circuit and the contest for Major League Baseball’s championship.
