Norway.— An ABC Nyheter report published October 25 highlighted the lack of figures on follow-up care for women who have had gestational diabetes. Norwegian public-health data show that the condition affected 7.4% of pregnancies in 2024, compared with 4.5% in 2015.
Researcher Anne Karen Jenum said there were no available figures showing how many patients received the recommended follow-up. Blood glucose may return to normal after childbirth, but the risk of developing type 2 diabetes later remains.
The absence of follow-up statistics does not mean that no patients received care.
