Oslo.— Norway and the World Bank signed two agreements to strengthen public financial management and combat corruption in low-income countries, Norway’s foreign ministry announced.
The financial framework totals 110 million Norwegian kroner for 2026–2029, with the possibility of expansion. The agreements were signed on October 14 during the World Bank’s annual meetings in Bangkok.
Support covers budgeting, accounting, auditing and institutional reforms. It also includes transparency in public procurement, identification of companies’ beneficial owners and oversight of conflicts of interest.
Minister Åsmund Aukrust linked the initiative to improved public services and proper use of tax revenue and international aid. The agreements establish resources and objectives; their results will need to be assessed during implementation.
