Phoenix: 38-month sentence for threats against Trump and Harris

Rene Ortiz, 56, of Casa Grande, was sentenced on October 20 to 38 months in prison for threats against Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, prosecutors announced on October 22.

A jury convicted Ortiz in June. The case involved messages sent to federal courts in Phoenix and Tucson in November 2024. The conviction concerned threats, not a completed attack.
