Christopher Matthaei, 48, of Brielle, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit securities fraud. The plea was entered on October 22 in federal court in Trenton and announced the next day.
The case connects the trades to nonpublic information about a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. Prosecutors said the scheme generated millions in illicit gains. Matthaei worked as a partner and senior salesperson at a firm with offices in Red Bank, New Jersey.
