RENO, Nevada — Eight Kyoto Koka University students and two faculty members took part in an inaugural summer program connecting English instruction with education and community experiences in Reno and Lake Tahoe.
The University of Nevada, Reno described the August 10–21 visit in an October 23 report. Its E.L. Cord Center for Global Engagement led the program with support from the College of Education and Human Development.
Participants visited Doral Academy of Northern Nevada and the university’s Child and Family Research Center, observing classroom practices and early-childhood learning.
English practice extended to interactions with students, faculty and community members. During a final Lake Tahoe activity, participants presented their ideas for future classrooms. This is a retrospective on the completed summer program, rather than a new enrollment announcement.
