Oslo.— Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland signed a free trade agreement with Vietnam on October 18, Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
About half of Norwegian exports will become duty-free when the agreement enters into force; the share will exceed 98% within seven years, according to official information.
Salmon will enter duty-free from the agreement’s entry into force, while duties on mackerel will be phased out over three years. These products currently face tariffs of up to 15%.
The agreement also covers investment, services and sustainable development. The government presented it as a way to diversify markets. Signing the treaty does not mean all tariff reductions are already in effect.
